Hi, I'm Kitty
My experience ranges from working with consumer brands and commodity food products to issues management and public education. My writing is practical and relatable, scientific without being overly technical. I strive for professionalism in everything I do, and part of that is being flexible, accurate and client-centered.
I've worked with food companies, public relations firms and trade associations in a variety of capacities, including writing, consulting, trade show representation, web content development, recipe development, menu consultation and as an advisory group member.
I've authored several cookbooks, regularly contribute to several blogs, and have authored many freelance magazine articles for national and regional magazines, newsletters, newspapers and websites. In addition to written work, I have solid experience in television, public presentations and as a brand representative at trade shows and press events.
My Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics is from Michigan State University, and I received a Master of Science in Nutrition Communications from Boston University. Immediately after graduate school I entered the world of publishing as a member of the editorial staff at Good Housekeeping magazine, and then moved into the public relations arena, working for an international food company for several years prior to launching my own consulting business.
I currently serve as an adjunct instructor in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Southern Maine Community College. I've also held numerous volunteer positions on the board of the Maine Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, including two terms are President, state Delegate to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Relations Chair and Education Chair.
